Somali football federation elects Ali Abdi Mohamed as president.

The congress of Somali football federation has just elected Ali Abdi Mohamed, as the federation’s president during the elective process held at Elite Hotel in Mogadishu this morning.

Mr Mohamed who has been serving as acting president of Somali FA since early last year, has gained much support and appreciation from the Somali people after leading Somalia to win its first evert Cecafa cup and taking the country to a continental event for the first time in Somali football’s history.

While addressing the congress after his election, president Ali Abdi Mohamed, said that his main priority is to get the game played in every tiny village in the country so all Somali children can have an equal opportunity to enjoy the game.

“Football is unity, football is love, football is development and we want to pacify the country and unite the Somali people through footballl” the president said.

He added “As we are all aware Somalia won its first ever cecafa cup last year and we are now eying on the upcoming CAF under 17 tournament to be held in Algeria – the history we made at CECAFA has given us more encouragement and we want to make an other history to qualify for FIFA world cup and i am confident that we can make it happen insha Allah”
