Somali Football Federation [SFF], unveiled its FIFA certified referees and assistant referees for the calendar year 2025. Late in 2024, SFF submitted a list of nine referees to FIFA which include two new entrants.
The nine FIFA match officials of whom four are center referees, while the rest five are assistant referees received their FIFA badges. The two new entrants to the list are: Abdullahi Hagi Hassan and Abdifitah Said Mire, both are center referees.
The nine Somali FIFA certified referees are: Abdifitah Said Mire, Abdullahi Hagi Hassan, Ahmed Hassan Hussein and Omar Abdulkadir Artan are center referees, while assistant referees are: Adam Ali Eid, Mahad Ali Mohamud, Mowlid Rage Ali and Suleiman Bashir Sheik Abdi.
On Saturday night, Somali Football Federation organized a gala dinner, which was intended to welcome twelve newly trained female referees. During the event, the president of Somali Football Federation, Ali Abdi Mohamed, presented the FIFA referees their badges for the calendar year 2025.
The president noted that the SFF is planning to recruit futsal and beach soccer referees, as part of the SFF’s strategy towards refereeing development.
“Referees are the judges of the game, so we want them to be well-trained and more experienced. In my capacity as the president of SFF, I will do as much as I can to make our referees the best” the president said.
“I would like to thank our international referees for their performance and professional officiating at international matches. They made us very proud” Somali Football Federation president, Ali Abdi Mohamed, emphasized. “My office is always open for you. Come to me when you need my assistance” the president told the international referees.
